As we continue our journey to improve our patients’ and families experience, we
encourage you to share this simple, yet important Heads Up initiative with your team.
“Heads Up” means we all need to be aware of our surroundings and be mindful that we
should engage with others in elevators or while walking down the hall. Our patients and
guests notice when we are texting in the elevator or talking on our phones when walking
down the hallway…just as they notice when we acknowledge them, smile, and say
hello. This toolkit provides some basic resources you can share during your staff
meetings: a short slide deck, a Heads Up handout with talking points, resources with a
variety of videos, and technology etiquette.
