 Augusta University Health Nursing Shared Governance Councils provide the structure for establishing standards of nursing practice; promote a professional environment and professional advancement throughout the organization.  Nursing Shared Governance Councils are comprised of registered nurses from diverse practice areas with varied years of nursing experience, which possess the skills to address the challenges to come. Shared Governance Councils are representative of the professional nursing staff at large, with members from critical care, acute care, pediatric, emergency department, the ambulatory care clinics arena, and other disciplines as appropriate. There are seven Nursing Shared Governance Councils and a Nurse Coordinating Council that assume responsibility and accountability for the management, operation and integration of patient care services shared governance structure and work.
